Started machining the spindle for the new wheel hub and locking hub. I ran into a miner problem and needed to order a new double row, double sealed bearing, so I am waiting for delivery on that before I can continue.

After I get the spindle finished , i will start machining the new wheel hub. I am machining all of the parts from aluminum just for the prototype because its easier/faster to machine. All of the final parts will be machined from 4140 prehard heat treated steel.

There will be some changes to the spindle that you see in the pics, but this is pretty much what it will look like!!

Just add a locker and you’re back to 3 wheel drive!

@Choog what is the offset on your wheel?
Is that hub going to make you wider than 50” (or 75")?

Waiting to see how this turns out.

I have 5+2 wheels. The plan is to make the spindle so that it ends up being 1 1/2" wider on the side with the locking hub...........it will be the same as adding a 1 1/2" spacer to one side. I will remove the spacer that I have on that side and just run a 1 1/2" spacer on the opposite side!

Ok folks found a problem with just one wheel pulling , instead of a unlocked differently . As I had broke the splines out of my drivers side outer joint I had to remove the axle and had a broke stab axle to replace it to get my garbage to the road ( Monday AM early they pickup ) . Gravel road at the bottom of my drive and cement drive with a good grade. I could not get off the gravel without spinning the right rear tire to the point put it in 4x4 to get backup on the cement . After getting on the cement I had to feather the gas to keep from spinning . Granted this isn’t a real big deal and I have a great turning radius now and when I was driving around the yard it was great except any grade and you will be spinning.

I honestly don't know how this thing is going to affect steering ,turning radius, traction......etc. If it causes issues , I can always go back to the stock setup. It's definitely going to be different, I just don't know "how different"!

With loss of rear traction issue, seems like running in 4wd full time would be necessary.

My yard is pretty flat , so I think I should be ok.

Also the one wheel braking in the rear could be a little funky!!!

Lol......the locker was a necessity and the locking hub is one of those things where I just need to know if it can be done :). I do think this will be a nice feature, as long as it can handle the abuse when locked!
