P500 Turf mode manual locking hub

    Finished up the prototype parts and bench tested it and it works like a charm!!!!!

    This is the new spindle, which will bolt to the existing wheel hub on the machine and will use the stock lug nuts. The 6.00 dia. Flange with the wheel stud holes is not on this part but will be on the finished part. I chose not to machine the flange on this one to save some machine time and has no significance to the operation of the locking hub!!!!. There will also be matching splines on the end of the spindle that will fit in the locking hub.

    This is the new wheel hub with the new bearing pressed in it , this slide over top the spindle and is secured with a castle nut and cotter pin. Again, I did not machine the 6.00 dia. Flange on this either, just to save on machining time. It will also have the 4/110 bolt pattern with wheel studs!

    Next the wheel goes on the hub and bolted on with lug nuts.

    Now the locking hub gets bolted to the wheel hub.

    The locking hub does not protrude out past the wheel/tire either, wich I am happy about.......dont want to wack it with a tree and bust it off!!!!! :)

    So now I will order a piece of 7075-t6 aluminum for the new hub and a piece of 4041 for the spindle and start machining the final parts.

    Thank you , this happens to be what I do for a living (Machinist) so I enjoy this kind of stuff. I wish I had more knowledge in other area's, that many others have. This forum is a great place for all sorts of knowledge!
