I saw on the Honda Pioneer 1000 Riders FB page that the bellows that HighLifter provides in their snorkel kit aren't up to specs and that HL is replacing them with 10ft. of tubing. I was also saw people suggesting to only put a good quality bellows on the front and rear diff, fan motor, and 2wd/turf mode box, and to run lines for both the gas tank (of course) and the sub-trans.

Has anyone that's done this have any issues? How about the bellows on the sub-trans?

I'm planning how I'm going to snorkel my machine now and would like to get it right the first time. Any suggestions for a good quality bellows?

I've read some of the build posts, and some of the ones being used I can't get here and cost almost as much to ship them as the product itself.

I have ZERO experience with bellows. I plan to and have already ran some of my tubes up to back seat level.

Here is a quick search on the site for several topics discussing them - bellows - Google Search

Ya, Anything with lots of air flow or large volume changes should not be done. Ex. Gas tank, and maybe sub transmission.
Rear diff's and fan can be done as its mostly to let small pressure out with changes in temp and a flexable bellow would work fine.

Best maybe to find some on Amazon prime - Amazon.com: bellow boot
ok.
Thanks.

I have bellows on my sub tranny and both diffs... been running them for several hundred miles now and haven't had any issues. I vented the fuel tank up to the roof with longer tubing.

I have the same setup and it's been flawless.

Well crap! I just took a ride today up to the in laws house. It was 100°F and I rode 60mph or faster for a few miles. When I returned, I smelled gear oil. I saw that the rear diff pinion seal had leaked oil. I think the seal is ok but I'm throwing all bellows in the trash. They have worked perfect for 700+ miles but 95° and higher must be their limit.

Wow - I didnt expect that!
Is it safe to join all these vent lines together before running them up high?
Except the gas tank which I would run separate.

You can join the diffs, sub trans, fan, and cable box in my opinion.

I've already got my fuel tank vent extended up high.

I didn't expect it either because I bought bellows for a jeep which has bigger diffs.

Damn Joey, I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. It's the reason I posed the question, though. I knew you and others had done it and I wanted to see if anyone had any issues. I will never have the heat you do there, but I don't want to take the chance. I think for now I'll go with hose and some type of filter.

Again, I'm really sorry this happened.

Thanks bud. I use pneumatic valve filters on my vent tubes in the past. We use them for work and they are cheap and readily available. Here's a link to some.....

I have used a barbed fitting that pushes into the hose and had female threads for the muffler. Once I get my new set up, I'll post it in my build thread.

Thanks for the info. Still have bellows on all three but ride short distancesale still. Have had them on about 400 miles total so far, no issues. The sub-transmission does build up pressure. Probably will route everything to top of seat back as I have with fuel vent line.

Where are the fan and cable box vents?

There is a cable adjustment box on the driver side under the bed. You don't want it to get full of water.

Also, the rad fan motor has a vent tube that you can run higher.

so its the rear diff leaking, not the sub tranny?
