Just curious, has anyone else run in to an issue when starting the engine hot?

What I’ve been noticing is the engine starts right up (one or two turns) every time when cold or slightly warm. After running at normal temp for a decent distance ride I sometimes run in to an issue where it has to crank many times, sometimes a lot of times to turn over. Other times at temp it starts right up. It runs flawlessly during the entire ride through any terrain ... just a starting thing.

Just an annoyance, but wondering if others have had this issue.

my 700 does also seems to help if I turn key on and wait for fuelpump to stop humming then start it.

I’m fairly certain it is normal... my fuel injected rincon did it too...

Ok. Thanks for the input. It started recently and hasn’t done it when it was new so I’d thought I’d toss the question out there.

I was honestly thinking maybe a hot engine sitting was causing a fuel vapor issue and the engine may need to turn a bit to pass it. Being EFI, improper supply pressure would cause a hesitant start.

Maybe... my thought was it being a single cylinder it just needed to be on the compression stroke in the engine cycle to fire off. So it just needed to turn a couple revolutions to get there? Then it cranks up... Atleast it sounds like it...

Adjust your valves. People think they always get loose-they sometimes get tighter as valves seat. When it warms up they get tighter.

Yes, check valves and make sure air cleaner is clean and put in a new plug and higher octane.

I would check valve clearance as others have said. I have not ran into that issue with my 700...yet. It usually cranks right up.

Mine usually takes about 1-2 seconds of cranking to crank... I just noticed the poster said it tries to crank many times or a lot before it cranks. Mines not like that! I agree check valves! I’m going to check mine after hunting season...

i also reread the post and i agree with william. mine takes couple of seconds too start when warm. have valves checked. have a 2006 rancher that got to where it would not start at all when warm found out valves were tight, adjusted them starts and runs very well now!

Yeah mine starts the same as the day I bought it. Same as my rincon and p500... all bought new. My 700 has 100 miles on it... I’m not worried about it yet... I plan on checking the valves before the takeover though!
