Hello all, before buying my winch, I did some reading about fitting the Warn Axon 45 behind the stock bumper. Some said it fit, some said it didn’t, some said it fit with modifications to the stock bumper. Just wanted to post a couple pics of what I ended up with to help anyone looking for info.
I decided to build my own mounting plate for a couple reasons; I wanted to get the winch up as high as possible to maintain as close to a straight pull as possible with it being upside down, and I knew I needed to keep it high to avoid cutting some of the skid on the stock bumper.
The process is a bit tedious because you have to keep the bolt holes tight so they won’t loosen with use, and line up with the winch mounting holes, the front diff mount angle and the fair lead holes on the bumper. Anyway, in about an hour I was able to fab something up that would work for me. Couple coats of tremclad and it was good to go. Hopefully this helps someone out, I’m a techy guy and had to get myself this beautiful winch, now it’s hidden!
