I'm considering a run to Nemo tunnel while at the TakeOver this year.
The loading area I know of is too small to handle a trailer (let alone several of them).

I'm assuming when Google maps says "trail head" it's intended for hikers not rednecks.
So I'm thinking I will throw the rack in the trailer for the commute to Tennessee.
Then use the truck to haul the P500 from RRB.
Google maps says its 61 miles via Huntsville.

Right now I'm thinking Thursday morning.
I figure if we wait for a train to pass we should have at least 15 minutes to run the tunnel.:p
Any takers?

IDK if they are closed. Just rumor's.
Due to this idiot.
Well, that was interesting.
Delay in Block is one of the YouTube channels I watch on a regular basis, they have good train watching in the TN, KY and some times Ohio area.
just hadn't seen that one yet.

I used to think 'Merica was full of smart well educated people.
Not so sure now.
Not only the Darwin award competitor subject of this video but some of the comments where right up there.
Some guy saying the railroads should be forced to build overpasses - A) that will put them out of business in a hurry, B) this was not a road crossing.
And my favorite comment - truck was probably totaled before the train hit it, it was a chevy (ouch, been wrenching on my chevy getting ready for the TakeOver).

@JACKAL so it looks like Nemo Tunnel is a bust.
I have a new idea, thought I would seek some local knowledge.

What if I road it down the mountain to Jellico.
I thought I heard one of the roads was blocked with a land slide of somthing.
15 miles each way ~ probably 45 min to an hour in the P500.

Then make the circuit:
- V-notch
- overlook
- cave
- arch
- Coke bottle rock
- river run some were in there

Then return along the ridge.

Any insights?

Probably will try to make the prison run one day and this the other.
Saturday will be the p5 ride.

Maybe if there is intrest some other p5's (that inexplicably made other plans for Saturday) might want to join.

The road that parallels I75 is closed to cars, etc due to landslide on its low side but above I75. It's the Rarity Exit (154 /156) where we and hondasxs unloaded my trailer last year.

However there is a couple of other routes from RRB that may only be 10 minutes longer. Look at the next roads adjoining eastward winding north south. They all get to the Jellico area and the POI you see from RRB.

Look for (immediately east of RRB / DTF Market) Melvin Hollow Rd. winding north to Lowes Branch Rd to Pine Mtn Rd that takes you all the way to Jellico. Maybe that's what you have highlighted, I couldn't tell. At 25-30 mph figure 30 minutes from RRB to Jellico.

I'm down if you want to make this a Fri ride Lee? @The Green Goat said he was down for a Fri ride too. I'm sure if we gather in the morning we'll have others hitch onto the wagon as well.

Well I hate to keep sending mixed messages. There were several people who are regulars on FB Group Tackett Creek Mafia that posted pictures of going through Nemo Tunnels over the past few days. So if that's where you really want to go, it should be doable.

Pics or it didn't happen they say.......

@lee from your original post about parking, there is a spot that can accommodate pickup and trailers right off Catoosa Rd that goes to the trailhead parking lot you shared the image of.

Note the dirt path East of the parking lot on the South side of Catoosa Rd. that is actually the trail leading to one of the tunnels.

The tunnel is open. That video must be old or from past as it’s in winter time appears. Maybe if have never seen them or have some other interest in them maybe worth going once. But lot better rides here then Nemo as there’s nothing there. Lot great unmarked trails here.
