Thank you, Yep, she’s going with me. I’m pulling a box trailer car hauler to pick up a 1962 Ford Falcon Futura. We have a friend there and he’s booked us a dinner at the best steak house in Chicago, so he says.

I saw one up here with the 429? in it. Don’t know the year. But he said only a few with the 429. Very nice.

So it’s the year I was born and I had a ranchero version when I was 16. It’s got the 170 CID in line 6 and Ford-O-Matic two speed transmission. No Falcon came with a 429 in it and if you put a 429 in one you’d have to really beef up the front end to handle the weight.

1960 was the first Falcon and it had a 144 CID
it was available with a small 260 V8 but indeed most had the 170....
30 mpg.....

I don’t think the 429 arrived until 1969. I seriously doubt you could get one in a Falcon and it would require some modifications to put one in a pre 69’ Fairlane.

This was years ago, but I’m thinking now it was something made for the drag strip. And your right on the 69 having a 429 Cobra Jet. Must have been fast.

You’re not putting a 429 in her. And anyway I’m after absolute stock...for a Sunday cruiser.
