2nd oil change today. 240 miles/28 hours. I figure the engine is mostly broke in, so in goes 3.2 quarts of amsoil utv/atv oil. :) 16d9d1e5da1a463767231e7601c9f6e8

Your grandkid-hauler is sure to get a workout when they come around! I think I speak for all of us when I say I'm still so impressed with your P500-4!

By the way, just went for a ride after the oil and filter change. Immediate and dramatic improvement in shifting!!!! Wow! It's quieter, smoother, and it even seems like it shift faster! Very pleased with the amsoil atv oil! :)

Heading out to Talladega tomorrow (let me plug Jimmy Johnson real quick) so I've been detailing the P-5. I'll finish her up today and load it in the toy hauler. There's miles of campgrounds, both sides of Speedway Blvd and we just poke along, stopping at one campfire after another. Folks are always sharing a shot of this or that, BBQ, Cajun food etc. At the fall race last year, the P-5 was still naked, all accessorised out now. Wait till I pull up with that sound bar cranking. Oh, and I have a buddy there that lets me borrow a small trailer which I haul the P-5 about 15-20 miles south of Talladega to ride on an abandoned WW11 ammunition base with dozens of bunkers with 45* banks up one side and down the other and some of the roughest trails I've ridden on! Very fun. Image

I used Bel Ray Thumper, same results! It's amazing what good oil will do.

A dude that I see at Talladega every race took an old jeep and modified it to fit on a Polaris Ranger frame. If Polaris came out with this, they'd sell like hot cakes!

Obviously I agree. Several years ago I bought a Honda magna motorcycle. I used GN4 for the first couple oil changes then I switched to Mobil 1 4T which is another good choice for synthetic. It made a huge difference in shifting. Ever since, I've used only synthetic in all of my engines. It really does make a difference! In some machines you can't really tell a difference, but not the P500! I did some work with it today. In all situations, it shifted better and smoother than it did before using the Amsoil. I'm very pleased with the results. :)

I worked the P500 hard today. Pulled out 4 good size sumac trees on my property. And a friend came over and helped clean up some junk. Used the "cute" little trailer to haul a ton of rotten wood and other junk and burned it. My Pioneer might be a toy, but it's definitely pulling its weight when it comes to getting some work done!

I found out today that spending ten minutes to learn how and adjust the clutch makes a world of difference in how this machine shifts gears. I Always thought the factory setting was far to aggressive, it now shifts so smooth even my daughter commented on it. I also, adjusted the reverse safety lever so that I no longer need it to go into reverse, should have done that a year ago.

I love that. Say, you know sumac is that shrub which makes a right angle turn just as the trunk goes under ground. People have made walking canes out of it forever because of that. I love your trailer!

I did not know that! They pull out of the ground easier than I expected though!

Getting serious today... Got the saw out. Using the trailer again. I don't know what I would do without it at this point. I use it so much I should probably not even unhook it anymore.

Awesome dude. I guess that means you'll not be transferring its title to me then?

Put a fresh new air filter in last night. I'd say it was due. C9fad8329380670b0f9488cf524bea80

The guy who briefed me on my P5 at the dealer told me to wash the foam element in gasoline and re-oil and reuse it.

Better to replace?

Joe
It's fine to do that. You'll get away with it a couple times, just watch it and when it begins to break down, replace it. They're not expensive so replacing is really fine as well.
