New guy, looking for a sanity check. 2020 Talon 4 Live Valve, $23.5K OTD ($20.5K +7% sales taxes, freight/prep) okay deal? it is less than MSRP, and I know they just came out a few months ago.
Thanks!
Tim

Drove to Abernathy's from Phoenix. Cost $460 in gas and $250 in hotels and food. Out the door on a 2020 Talon 1000R for $17,864. Best OTD price I could find in Phoenix was $19,890 on a 2019 model. I'd do it all over again. Gets me that much closer to the turbo I am craving.

Got a 2019 Blue X today in Roseville, CA for $20,000 including all taxes (8.25%) and fees. Cashier's check, no financing. They had the $940 shipping and $999 set up fee and there was $1500 in factory rebates. All that got worked to where I ended up at the $20K number. Added 4 years to the warranty for another $900. Got $2170 of accessories as well at 15% off MSRP. Was just looking, but knew i wanted one. Prefered the red, but they only had a 2020 and were not dealing as much on that one. Feel pretty good about the deal. It's about 30 miles from home so I didn't have to drive days to save $200.

Hi, I just joined the forum to get an idea what prices people are getting on 2020 1000X models. This will be my first sxs. I have my choices narrowed down to a Talon or a YXZ. Haven't went to the Yamaha dealer yet, but just got back from the Honda dealer. Their quote was MSRP minus the 1000 Honda rebate and they ate the cost of shipping. They also said the labor to install any option would be free. I'm not sure that's a huge selling point for me because I'm a gearhead and I like doing that stuff myself. They wouldn't budge on price. Just wondering whether that's an ok deal or not? Seems a little high, but maybe I need to wait until 2021 models are out before I can get a better deal on a 2020?

I have no idea on what is a good price local to you, but down South, that dealer would go out of business ..... lol

Pretty spread out rural area here, though there are a handful of Honda dealers within a 2 hour drive. They said they've been selling like hotcakes. People getting their coronavirus stimulus money and using that as a down payment. This dealer didn't have any in stock. It's actually more of a outdoor power equipment (aka chainsaws, etc.) dealer who also sells Honda atvs, sxs, etc.

I am within reasonable driving distance of Spokane, WA. And I'd also be willing to go as far as Boise if anyone knows of a dealer in either of those areas that would have better pricing. I also sent a request for a quote to a dealer about an hour away. And, if time permits, I'm going to try to visit the Yamaha store tomorrow.

I would give up on your local dealer and start shopping elsewhere. My local dealers wanted to charge me msrp, plus freight, plus destination, plus setup, plus doc., etc. I drove two days each way to Ramey Motors in Purvis, MS. After travel expenses, I saved over $6k in the end.

btw, I easily ruled out the yxz. It's design is just too old and very limited. It doesn't even have a Low range. I had friends at the time of my Talon purchase that would gladly get rid of their yxz. One of them has since moved on.

With the shortage of inventory due to COVID, I would be interested if those same dealers are still giving out deals like that?

Well, decided to get another quote. This time on a 2019 R. I thought dealers gave deals to get rid of old models, and considering 2021s are almost out, a 2019 is pretty old. But... 18739 before tax, title, doc. Maybe it's high because of kickbacks they get for people who finance? I'm paying cash.

Ask them if financing will get you a better deal. If it does then finance it then pay it off with the first payment like I did. Saved me like $900 ($1,000 incentive minus 1 month of interest i ended up paying). Just don't tell them that is what you plan on doing. Don't ask, don't tell :) .

My friend just bought one in New Mexico last month and paid 23.9K
They told him short inventories and no deals...

2021 X LV 2 seat.
Local dealer wants 23,098 + tax.
Would be 24,900 out the door.
Be $26k after finance charges.
