As much as I love it, learning that it's strictly seasonal almost kilt me.

One of my last dirt bike trips, late June. Late afternoon, in the shade of the van ... and there wasn't any shade on the trail.

When I stopped to take this photo, the heat swallowed me ... I realized, in full riding gear, that I was in deep doo doo. 🔥🔥🔥️‍🔥️‍🔥️‍🔥

I can deal with it until about 100-105° ambient. I take the doors off and that helps, but it can get miserable down in those washes at that temp, even moving. The real issue is having to take into account getting back to civilization if things go sideways. Waking through the desert In 100° ain't no fun.

I can deal with it until about 100-105° ambient. I take the doors off and that helps, but it can get miserable down in those washes at that temp, even moving. The real issue is having to take into account getting back to civilization if things go sideways. Waking through the desert In 100° ain't no fun.

The walking out part was always my backup plan, but now in my mid 70's, that ability is rapidly leaving the building. :-|

We almost met, I was riding with WillyBill in the Florence/Montana Mountain area this spring but you were out of town. We rode everything except the X'd out section, bottom center, a previous ride.
