I’m sure this has been discussed before, but I’m looking for a winch and winch mount for my 1000-5. Primarily will be used for snow plowing and occasionally getting out of mud. I would prefer synthetic rope but steel is ok too. Looking at either 3500 or 4500 lb. What’s ones do you guys like? I’m considering price/value too.
Thanks in advance.

I agree with the above.
Seems like at least 2 times the weight of your vehicle is the minimum.
A few have had issues where that wasn't hardly enough.

The opposing issue is that weight of the winch is weighing down the nose and affecting your suspension and clearance as well.
You just have to decide where in that window you want to be and that may be how deep and how often you are in the mud.

I did a lot of research before buying my winch and purchased a Mile Marker 5000 lb winch for $199.99 on amazon. It is an amazing winch. It comes with eveything you need for the install and operation, including a universal mounting plate. I'm getting another one for my just like it for my truck.

I bought a used P-1000 with a Badland 5000 lb winch (Harbor Freight) previously installed. It's really inexpensive, which would normally deter me from trying one. However, since it was already on it, it's the winch of choice. It has been really good, especially considering $$. Corded remote and dash switch. I've plowed a lot of snow for 2 winters now, as well as a few pull-outs in the mountains. It's exceeded my expectations

You did not need a winch mount because a mounting plate came with it? What machine do you have?
Thanks.

I had already bought a Viper mount (sold at Honda SxS Club Store) that was designed for my P700 and liked it better than the universal plate that came with the winch. Mile Marker is a top rated product and they have the government contract with the military supplying hydraulic winches for the humvees. 5000 lbs is overkill for a P700 but, it was less expensive than the 3500 lb unit at the time I bought mine and it's submersible. Northern Tool carries them but, I beat their price on Amazon ($199.99). I've seen them on eBay, too.

Hmmm... Currently priced @ $262 on Amazon ($350 with synthetic rope), and a disclaimer that it wil not fit P1000-5's.... So were you able to fit it on to a P1000-5? Have some pics to share of the mounting ?

Thanks... ;)

Amazon says it doesn't fit my P700 Deluxe either, but I didn't know that until tonight. I wanted rope but, I didn't want to pay extra for it. I had to use it twice in one day back in December '19' while deer hunting. It worked great. I guess I'll have to take it back off, now, since Amazon says it doesn't fit. NOT. LOL. I'll take some pics when my backyard dries out. We got 3 inches of rain day before yesterday. I attached a few screen shots for you to ponder.

It's a great winch and it has gotten me out of a few deep mud and fallen tree situations. I sold my 700 and bought a '17' P1000 LE. It came with a KFI 4500lb winch already installed. I haven't had to use it yet. Had I needed to put one on it I would have gone the Mile Marker 5000lb again.

Consider one with a remote control. I got the Viper Max 4500. The remote allowed me to be out in the lake at the end of a 40 foot roll in dock and pull the dock out with my Pioneer 1000-5.
