Even though I’m moving, I’m still interested in another T.O. Like we had in September 2019 at the Alpine Loop and Taylor Reservoir in Colorado. I figured I’d start this early and gauge any interest in another TO, wether in Colorado or any other western state. Please, if interested, feel free to chime in.

For those of us not familiar with "Takeover" events, could you give us an overall review. I'd be interested in attending most any event in the Rocky Mtn states. Thanks!

Plumber32,

Well I guess we need a definition of what is "decent" riding. I like the Red Desert south of Lander, approx. 42 miles to our antelope camp. Look for Gold Creek (Simply a creek) to the west and Atlantic City (old gold mining town) to the west. It is mostly BLM with National Forest on the fringes. Riding is permitted on roads, there is a bar and grill in Atlantic city. Lots of rough camping opportunities, no facilties. Mostly two track, nothing hairy and not likely to break anything, if you stay sober but still possible. I wouldn't take my 35' Toy hauler very far in but a 4x4 pick-up could get to most places. Place is covered with wildlife especially antelope, and mule deer. Bear, including grizzlies and wolfs are on the periphery.

There are sand dunes not to far north of Rock Springs at I-80 and south of the Red Desert. I'vs been snowed on pretty hard on Memorial day and experienced the 500 year storm in Sept. It washed out the freeways.

Hope this helped.

s/f Steve

There is only 1 "Takeover" it's in TN and will be June 5th this year.

This ride is a group ride we usually have out west in the fall. It's a road trip for many and nothing is really planned except the date and place.
Usually we try to meet at someone's camp Sat evening for a potluck or something and a few door prizes for those that came.

Thanks El Shardo. Was too tired to explain. Been clearing land all day. I really enjoyEd the September ride. Seeing the Aspens change colors is definitely worth seeing. Only places I’ve ridden In Wyoming is at the headwaters of the Green River just NW of Pinedale in the Bridger-Teton NF. The Mountain Man Rendezvous was held there in the late 1700’s through the early 1800’s. Tons of wildlife. Lots of NF and dispersed camping. Little to no amenities. Also the mountain man museum in Pinedale is definitely worth checking out. They have Jim Bridger‘s original rifle there. Among many other collections. Really worth seeing.

From Pinedale, God's Country. High elevation but gorgeous scenery.
Wyoming is one of the largest public land states.
Red desert is cool, the sand dunes, all BLM and fun places to ride. Millions of other cool places across the state.
No politics, no bs as long as respectful.
I'm there in Pinedale and RockSprings in July with my wheeler and riding with my tribe.

Been to a few dozen Rendezvous(reinactment), still happens every year. Week long 24 hour party...killed a lot of brain cells at these...
