Just wondering if power steering is necessary on a Pioneer 500. Its my understanding that it is not a standard feature on a 500. Anyone have any thoughts on this as I have not bought a UTV yet.

Not necessary but sure is nice to have. Especially if adding bigger tires, locker...
One of the first things I did to my P5 was install P/S and I have no regrets. Like trigger said it's not necessary but nice to have, especially if you add a torque locker and bigger tires which I would recommend as well.

I’ve not installed it. The help with bump steer would be the biggest advantage of it in my opinion. Static turning of the wheels isn’t really an issue.

Agree with everyone else. I have PS and it is nice to have, but not absolutely necessary

I put it in mine and love it. don't do it if you want forearms like Popeye. it's also nice if you have arthritis, carpel tunnel etc

Tire width (10's or 11's) and or wheel spacers will increase steering effort and bump steer. PS will help alleviate those issues. With the locker install it won't be 'selectable' in 4WD so you'll appreciate it also. My previous rig had no PS and was fast. I just liked the feel thru the wheel. Selectable locker meant I only had to fight it in technical stuff. P5's are a different animal though. Luxury it up with shocks and PS if you can afford it, your body will thank you....

Poor man's power steering works well plowing for me. The snow tends to grease the skids.

Necessary no, but I wouldn’t be without it. There are so many great accessories/modifications out there for the P5 that many of the commenting members have given awesome reviews and recommendations, but sortIng out how u think u will use the machine is critical in selecting which ones. I use my machine for hunting, plowing & mowing with a pull behind brush mower. 3 months of mowing at speeds under 5 mph maneuvering in the woods without PS and an Elk hunt in CO with the bump steer issue in rocky terrain. I personally wouldn’t wait 3 months again to install it. Best modification I have.

I’m running 28” heavy mud tires and turning is not an issue, the biggest benefit to ps IMO would be to help with bump steer! I will eventually add it but there’s still a couple of things that I want first.......shocks being at the top of my list!
