Winch issues

Wanted to know if anyone has had this issue with there winch.
Mounted a KFI 4500 winch on my P1000-5 , the paperwork says to run your cable out through the center of the winch but the winch sets 3 inches lower then the rollers on the brush guard . Found out that you will have to run your rope over the top to keep this from happening. But the proper way to run your rope is from the bottom. But from the factory its spools from the top .
Any ideals .
Like getting a brush guard from JEI were the winch is mounted on the top of the brush guard.

Haven’t had KFI, but have had a few Venom winches. In my experience, they are better quality than warn and less than half the cost.

You should always spool the cable where it comes off the bottom or close to where the winch is attached to the mount.

Several have used the kfi mount (including myself) which mounts the winch low compared to the fairlead location without an issue. You just have to make sure the cable is a straight shot from the spool to the fairlead opening (not over or under a spanner bar).

FWIW, my son backlashed mine once somehow and bent a spanner bar like you did. I called superwinch and the sent a new one at no cost. YMMV.

When you say “from the factory it spools from the top”. What do you mean? Honda OEM accessory winch?

I’ve got the Honda mount and Honda OEM (warn) winch and it spooled from the bottom like the install manual says.

BWAF has the same setup but the dealer installed wrong and spooled from the top.

Like above statement mine is spooled from bottom. Warn 4500 pro with a Kfi mount but should be same relative placement. No issues with winch ever. Snapped a bunch of cable before I went to synthetic, much better luck now. dont break line because of fairlead placement usually it’s out aways.
