If you have a 1000, you'll want a 4500-5000lb. Synthetic rope and hawse fairlead are recommended.

I've been happy with my superwinch terra 4500 I've had for three years.

Terra45 is a great winch
I have a winch, so far I've found my self in a predicament my winch was not useable for for retrieval , HA! @Glockmister to the rescue and some other friends, wasn't a big deal, two winches and a snach block was all it took!

I've used my Terra45 countless times for recovery.

I must be a better pilot most of the time or a chicken poop! HA!😇

If I have another full-size machine along with me, I'm not too worried about getting stuck

I just flopped, took two machines to get me outa flop! Sure there is some A hole that has a picture? It was a pretty bad flop, a few small trees kept me from a 15 foot tumble into a ravine. Don't star Gaze by your self, if you are driving! And that's all I have to say about that!

I have a Viper from the club store. It's been a very good winch. Synthetic rope is the way to go.

I’m at the same point Pete. I’m surprised nobody listed Warn.

I would only use synthetic rope because I've heard stories of the metal cable breaking and whip lashing and hurting people. There are just sooooo many winches out there it's hard to know which one to go with....The Superwinch Terra 4500 really looks good but I'm no expert by any means.. All input is appreciated..😎😎

Thanks Goheelzfan I looked at the gearing ratio of the Super winch and it seems to be lower than a lot of the others (which I Like it Lower) I think i'll go with the Super winch...Terra 45 synthetic rope

It's not the fastest cable speed but it is one of the lowest current draws at full winch load. That's the reason I picked it.

Slow cable speed is not a concern for me ... I like low current draws and dependability and all metal gearing.. I just ordered everything from Amazon
Thanks to all for the input..

I have the Warn Axin 45s on my Tough Country bumper. It looks pretty sweet sitting on top of the bumper here you can see it. I had quite a bit of overtime and found it on sale, otherwise I would have went with Superwinch.
I had an off brand winch that failed on me the first time I got stuck.
