1 st off, I'd like to thank this site & it's members for good info that helped lead me to my pioneer purchase. I will try to post my review in the near future. I am interested in the plastic hard top, but I had a guy tell me they were only rated for around 60 mph when trailering. Is that true? I routinely trailer mine @ 75 mph. Will it withstand that speed? I'm also interested in the 2 piece Windshield due to the air flow in this south Alabama heat. What are your thoughts on it? Is it durable? Does it rattle? Thanks for your help.

I towed my pioneer home around 20 miles going 70 mph and another 10 miles at 60mph and didn't have any issues. I think I have the windshield you are talking about. It is the 2 piece split. The top portion will come forward around 6 inches and let air come in if you want. It has screw knob type clamps holding it in place. With the plastic all the way in it rattled like hell. More like slapped the other piece when On rough terrain. The solution was to just clamp it out about an inch from the other piece. It doesn't let much air in if any and it's quiet.

I thought the roof had to be good for those speeds. Didn't think they would possibly put a product out that might fly off going down the hwy. The windshield you have is the 1 I am interested in. I was concerned about the 2 piece window rattling. If opening it a little will solve that then I don't have a problem. It rarely gets cold enough for a little air flow to freeze you where i live. Thanks for the input.

I have the hard roof, and even though I haven't trailered it with the roof on, I will not be afraid to haul it 75 or 80mph. The roof is very rugged. I went with the solid glass windshield, and that I know is good for at least 70...

I towed my P4 for 60 miles doing around 70 and had no problems. But I did run a strap around the front of the roof to be safe.

Re: Windshield & top questions

I've gone 85mph for 100+ miles with the hard roof and without the windshield. It stayed put no problems.

Can anyone verify this I was told that the hardcoated windshield was harder to scratch but if you did there was nothing you can do about it but the other windshield that didn't have hardcoat if it got scratched you can get a rubbing compound and get them out. This is what my parts guy was telling me to think about if I would get a lot of mud on it have to be careful about wiping it off.

Re: Windshield & top questions

That is true the softer windshield can be polished to some extent, The hard coat can't be done as well. I would go with the glass windshield that is the most scratch resistant.
