While going up a very steep hill the unit seemed to stay in second or high gear. It stalled and the wheels would not spin. A dealer in Delta Junction Alaska told me that you have to tap the bakes to make it shift down.
I'm finding the same thing to be true with mine. The 700 isn't Hondas best model. I've found that feathering the gas helps on this. While going up a very steep hill the unit seemed to stay in second or high gear. It stalled and the wheels would not spin. That seems to be the problem right there, no low and high transmission position, very odd. Makes the P7 a good utility vehicle for work, but not terribly suited to the trail riding I do.Got some bad news, it's in the lowest gear. It's just a three speed and first is high.
I'm thinking the OP was likely in 1st gear and just didn't realize it. This is the big red "F" on the 700's otherwise good report card.Paddle shift would eliminate your problem, why I purchased the newest model!
