Can someone share with me why a forum moderator says: "SSS is crap"? Points for brevity, deductions for lack of clarity. Further demerits for lack of tact from a forum moderator. Not all us have been around for seven years, ohana.

I have no idea. All I can say is the majority of us run Trail Armor and they make top notch skids. I only know one person that runs a SSS skid. I’d search the site and see if there’s been any issues.

Thanks for the response, but what is "Trail Armor" that you're "running"? Is that a brand, a retailer or a material??

It’s a brand but last I checked they don’t make one for the 500. My buddy @Big-Country bought one from SSS and it’s been good so far but that all I can tell you about them.

I have has SSS skids on my P500 for 5 years now. Very happy with them. That said, now that FUTV offers the UHMW Ultimate kits in 1/2" I do prefer them, especially on the bigger machines ( P1K & Talon) where FUTV uses less pieces for the same or better coverage.

Note: About the time I bought my SSS skids there was a pricing kerfuffle, I had no problems but, between SSS directly and or Overstock.com / Amazon.com there was some unbelievable prices advertised and product was not shipped after a few people paid. What ever the end result was, the issue left a VERY negative opinion on the brand name with a few affected members.

Those are pricing errors by Amazon or the other site and not by SSS, I have had the same issues with them and Wayfair numerous times. I have the skid plates on my short list. I am worried about running a stick through my floor board.

I bought mine direct from SSS, and via an email he matched the price online and gave an additional 10% discount. That was 5 years ago. I personally didn't have any issues whatsoever, but I vaguely recall the posts on here about the price problems.

Here are old posts using the search function, note from fall winter 2015, what happened 5 years ago may have zero application to what is going on currently.

I got the Ricochet aluminum skid plate, rock sliders and A arm protectors. If I did it again, would go UHMW for the skid plate as the width of the frame allows the aluminum to bow upward after rock hits. It was rubbing/rattling so bad I had bend them back by driving on top with my tractor. Thats my 2 cents.

My SSS Skid has been awesome, it has taken serious abuse and I would buy it again.

They’ve definitely got the P5 market locked down, I don’t know why more people don’t make skids for the 500, I see them everywhere.

I don’t have any issues with SSS, I bought the Trail Armor because I liked it better personally. @Big-Country has a SSS on his 500 with zero issues.

Went a different route with mine because I already had Ricochet rock sliders installed and didn't need the rocker panel coverage. It also looked like the SSS skids wrapped up in the front and I didn't want issues with the bash plate I made or the KFI plow bracket. I bought UPI skids, they're UHMW as well, about 3/8" thick. No drilling either, bolted right on. Priced a bit more reasonable too.
