I'm running heavy sedona ripsaws, I thinknthe added traction and toughness of tire put wiegh the marginal performance gain of a lighter tire,
Depending on what you're riding in. Those Rip Saws are a heavy tire with deep lugs and they look BA! Saw a brand new set on a P5 at the start of a group ride and was sure I'd be ordering some when I got home, until the ride. We have a lot of sand up here and those tires suck in the sand. It's been posted in the forum a few times how they're not great in snow either, makes sense, they're diggers. Watched that P5 try to climb a hill 3 times without making it. Saw a Popo Ranger try it and fail too. A P5 with BH 2.0's made it up the first time. I like to think driving skills may have played a part as well. 😏
So the marginal performance you speak of sometimes means making it up the hill or not. If this story were about a deep mud hole then it probably would've been me trying 3 times and not making it. There's no perfect tire to handle all riding conditions. Picking the best all around tire that excels in your typical terrain is all you can do.

Finally 'finished' it. Ended up going for a sporty look. Went with pizza cutters to save weight and gain performance on rocky hills. Red accents for that traditional Honda look. The red, the steep rake of the P5 windshield, and the excellent articulation with the Jaks long travel kit, and the capable Walker Evans shocks put me in mind of the Talon.

So I'm calling it a Taloneer 500. 😅

tires: Kenda Bear Claw HTR 28x9x14, all (26 lbs each)
wheels: Sedona Rukus, 14x7, 5+2 offset
width: 60.5

Powder coating of the shackles, nerfs and rear bumper done by David with AED Off Road Fabrication. Turns out he's near here. Great work, great price. Highly recommend. Member @Coeus purchased from him. Coeus, I'd love to get a pic of ours together for him before we get them dirty.

Another sincere Thank You for those that helped me out with it; the Auxbeam controller in particular helped me out big time.

See ya at Takeover!!

Looks good Futz! I'm interested to see how much travel has been gained? Have you taken any measurements?

Have not taken any articulation measurements.
I think I gained about 2 - 2.5" at the frame.
But the front is still lower than the rear. Tried to level it with shock preload but ride quality began to suffer. Would really love to raise the front.
