trail maps

Just wondering what you guys are using. Is Liftime Trail maps the best or are there some other good options out there. What about OruxMaps? I don't have to have a tablet I could use a handheld GPS I use for hunting but am unaware of any offroad specific software that does what the trail maps app...

I am curious what type of tablet everybody is using to use for trail maps. In regards to the tablet, do you have to have a tablet that has to be connected to a phone carrier (Verizon, AT&T, etc). I feel like I have ran across some people that mentioned tablets with Wifi alone do not have the GPS...
