I am looking for instructions and/or diagrams for chopping the rollcage on a 700-4. I have searched the forums and found some pictures but I was looking for where to cut before I screw some thing up.

If you have facebook, join honda pioneer 700 riders and type "cage chop" into the search bar. A guy documented his steps for chopping his cage in detail.

ByronM I just picked up a '17 700-4 about two weeks ago after owning a 1000-5 and a 500. No secret that the 700-4 has the ugliest design out there, so I decided to get rid of it too.
I knew I wanted a glass windshield so going low wasnt an option. Plus I feel like the seat is taller than the 1000 so I think headroom would be kind of tight. Also we dont get crazy and hard core so simple and a little tougher than oem is all I needed. Plus a flat sheet metal roof that serves the purpose. Here's what I came up with this weekend.
FYI, with the oem 1 5/8" O.D. tube 1 1/2" O.D. fits perfectly inside so theres no need to sleeve cause you already are. Plus the weld joint is a great fit all the way around. I did recess the tubes about 1" in every joint. The middle bar had to be tipped in slightly due to the new outer runs being true and straight. Looks so much cleaner without bolts, brackets, and little clips everywhere too!

Thanks Boilers. Are you planning to use a stock windshield? Modify the lower panel?

Looks good, I like that on the 700.
I know you weren’t going to drop it down for headroom but the glass is no problem. We have Honda glass and it’s simply a flat steel frame so I cut it down then brought a cardboard cutout of the glass 5in removed in and it was about a hundred bucks. Went tinted glass too which is nice.

I ordered a Kolpin glass windshield. They're about $100 cheaper and have vents for some airflow in the summer with a hole for electric wiper too.

CumminsPusher I wouldn't have minded bringing it down a bit, but I really thought just eyeballing it too much might make it a head knocker. The way I went I felt it was just simplest all around. I tried not to alter seatbelts locations or any either.

Just so you get an idea ByronM, here's a pic from tonight. Got the cage painted earlier and picked up the windshield. I cant wait for the next local cross county ride.... Got a feeling now seeing it painted people gonna be like "That sure is a odd looking 1000-5"

ByronM just wanted to show you the finished product and anyone else interested. Finally got the sheet metal roof done and painted.... Lots of
rivets. Anyhow I hope it helps. Also for anyone interested. I was scanning Amazon and ran across a rear soft window for a late model-ish? Teryx and scooped it up for about $60. Required rolling up a tad bit, which i may cut off eventually but width and length of the window couldn't have been any better.👌🍻
