Eye relief is a little short at 15mm if you wear glasses. If it were me I'd go with the 8x42's. You won't miss much detail, but gain a lot of field of view.
Have you been anywhere like a Cabelas where you could try a number of different ones? If not you really should to see what works for you.
I have and love the Celestron Nature DX 8x42. The review listed below said they are the best you can buy for under $250 You can get a pair on Amazon for $113 with free prime shipping. Their customer service is also very good. I had the twist up eye cups on mine get gritty and break and Celestron warranty swapped them no questions asked. I have been taking better care of my new set to keep the grit out.
My wife has the 10x42 version and likes them. I don't care for the 10s. Things aren't as crisp to my eyes.
