We’ve had the tear drop out on several rides and camped in KOA and state campgrounds already but this is the first time to take it deep into the Rocky Mountains. From forest access roads, to forest roads, to logging trails, to abandoned logging trails in which I had to pull out the chainsaw often. Not just for fallen trees across the trail, but live trees that have grown up in the path. So far I estimate that I’ve opened up 20-25 miles of old forest roads long abandoned this way.

Arrived at a pretty, very little alpine meadow where two small streams converge. And made camp.

Old water bars and washed out streams made for a slow going, sometimes throwing rocks and or logs to produce a low water crossing that wouldn’t drag the hitch point, otherwise the tear drop did great as it has a pretty high clearance, higher than the Pioneer actually.

Very cool! Glad to see the teardrop getting some use! How does it pull?
It pulls really nice, and the load leveling shocks are great on the 1000-5. I won’t attempt it on real steep terrain if it’s rough though, which requires real slow driving because the rpm’s will get too low and I don’t want to chatter the clutch. But yeah, I’m very impressed with its pull. And I’ve been 45 mph with it with no problems but I’m thinking I’d get a little nervous with it over that, but I’ll find out in the future.

Neat little camper. Never thought about the Pioneer being used like that.

I thought it was illegal to cut standing trees in NF without a permit?

That'd be perfect for the Magruder corridor and other long overnight rides.
Ok, so do you want the manufacturers contact information so you can get one ordered? And where is the magruder corridor.

The Magruder is the longest unimproved road in North America. It starts on the west side just south of Elk City, Idaho, and crosses the Bittterroots to basically Darby Montana.
It is an epic ride.

Where This Awesome Idaho Weekend Trip Will Take You Is Unforgettable
There’s an unimproved road like that over here, starts at the Colorado line and runs south east for 60 miles through the Santa Fe National Forest following a river for about a third of the way, with camping along it, the last 5-6 miles it goes through Ted Turners Vallejo Ranch and ends at Cimarron New Mexico. I intend to do it both ways with the SXS and tear drop.
