Citizenship Day 9/17/21

Today is officially Citizenship Day, though I doubt that would make the major news channels.

As a young lad of 19, I stood before a judge and was sworn in as a U.S. Citizen on May 1st 1964. I stood in Navy blues, having joined the U.S.N. a year earlier. And just 3 weeks before that day I was standing before the base commander (shaking in my shoes) as he told me the Navy made a mistake in sending me, a non-citizen, to Electronics Technician A-School. For as a foreigner, I could not obtain a secret clearance. He said I was doing very well in school and asked how long it would take me to become a citizen. I said, "A month Sir!" I think they greased the wheels some, as there I stood, becoming a U.S. Citizen just 3 weeks later.

I was so proud!

But now I'm concerned for my country, the country I love. The one that gave me opportunity to achieve like no other, if I was but willing to work hard.

I share your concerns. Socialism has failed everywhere it has ever been implemented. As a matter of fact, every single leftist program, goal, promise, plan, and policy ever tried has failed miserably but we are fast moving into socialism. The United States will fail also. At age 79 I probably won't be around to see it happen but I believe it is only a matter of time.

With utterly corrupt hacks like the Jimmy Carter (not really corrupt, just a leftist fool) Klintons, nobama, and this senile moron we have now how could any nation survive?

Where were you born? I also attended ET school - in 1961.

England. Came over on the Queen Mary, through Ellis Island, in 1952. My real dad spent 30 years in the RAF, North Africa in WWII, mom was an ambulance driver in London during the bombings. There marriage ended with the war.
