I use a "hero 3 silver". I like that I can control it from my phone and get a preview while its recording. You can probably still get them used on eBay. They are now selling the "Hero 4" which is pricey but I'm sure it's a good camera.

As for the mounts, I use a roll cage mounts and a wind shield mount. Those options are endless, just look at @Hondasxs videos. He has some cool extension polls.

May also consider the SJCAM - cheap and works GREAT. I am pleased with the one I got and you can get a few for the cost of a go-pro

Watch this video! At first it looks like a normal video. If you are watching it on your phone, start turning your phone in different directions and you have a complete 360 view.

I run an sjcam and I really like it. It's much cheaper and it works well. The battery life In Cold weather left a bit to be desired but no complaints otherwise. (I use it for skiing too).

Check out Ebay for some batteries - I got several spares and they were dirt cheap and work well.

The LightDow and SJCam look identical. Not just similar... exactly the same. I believe the difference is the SJCAM shoots 4K video. How do you like the LightDow @Riverrat
So far I'm impressed with it, vidios are great, I'm still learning how to operate it, but for the price so far it's excellent.
