Cutting heater vent and switches

Used a drill and bit as a router.

Razer knife cut easily as well.

Stuffed my blower into place. Idea was to blow the heat from radiator into the rig. Bilge blower cost 20 bucks. Easy and cheap.does blow nice amounts of heat into cab. Cuts dust by half. I believe due to filtered air and positive cab pressure.

Problem: inconsistent heat. Very humid.

Fix: heater core on the way. Going to build my own heater and duct it under hood with cabin filter.
Estimated cost: 40 bucks to finish.
Total cost 60 bucks.

Installed switch plate and storm gate as a vent. Cost 3 dollars for vent and

40 for 2 switches and plate. Double illuminated ( bottom always illuminated even when off, top also when on)

Worth every penny and then some. Nicest switches I've ever had.

After some thought I'm going to bag building my own heater. I'm going to pick this up in a few months once the temps start Cooling off again. I think it will work better than anything I rig up.

Maradyne H-400012 Santa Fe 12V Floor Mount Heater https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DZEZ4J0/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_e4YmxbF3RCYAH

Got my light bar installed. Works great. Way more light than factory headlights. Don't even use those anymore.

Here's some pics for you guys that have never been to alaska. Fishing at kings a week ago.

The darker pic is 10 pm, the lighter one is 9:15 pm. Stays light enough to fish till 11:00.

We saw a bald eagle flying around and I took a bunch of video hoping it would dive in the water after a fish. No such luck.

Pulled out a dozen or so rainbow but thew them all back.

We're heading up to the top thursday. I'll let you know if I find a little pooh bear walking around.

Got the light bar bolted on. Works great. When I get some more cash I'll pick up a 50 incher. Sold my last one with my polaris. Hard going back to a little bar.

Anyways took my airbox off and inspected things trying to formulate a snorkle. I think I'm going to bypass the whole hood extension and pipe up from airbox.

Vent tubes up to roof, fan under the dash with a loop.

Last pic, just a pic of the rig. It's 11:28 pm here in palmer alaska when I took the pic. Gonna read a few chapters with all the light I have.

Got 2 pods. 3x2 rows of leds. Needed a little more light out on the side of the trail. Installed woth some clamps and rubber. Pretty happy with them. Eventually I'll get 2 50 inchers up front and move the pods as backup lights and get another 20 inch and have them pointed on my sides. 360 degrees of light.

Also, pic of rig on log at kings. We decided to try and be those douchebags. Hard to climb in and out. It's stupid.

Also bought some side mirrors. I'll show a pic of those tomorrow. Very satisfied with the price vs quality. No more blind spots for me.

review of the pods, they are crap. Barely any light. Very dim. My buddy got a set of rigid pods, and they are easily twice as bright. While I am a huge fan of the cheap 52 inch amazon bars, I'm very disappointed in the 3x2 pods. His 2x2 pods are kickin though. I got a different set coming in the mail, again cheap amazon pods. I'll post when they get here and see if there is any difference in quality or brightness between. The two manufacturers

Also, contacted the seller asking if these were supposed to be as dim as they were compared to rigid, and they asked how much I paid vs how much he paid. Essentially telling me you get what you pay for.

Well his are 1500 lumens. I paid for a displayed 1250 lumens. I do not have near that many lumens. Here's 2 pics displaying that.

I'll give actual item links and seller names after other pods arrive, assuming they are better. If they arent, I would skip them altogether and go straight to a 8 inch or twelve if possible.

pics of mirrors. rear view is a wink 5 panel. bolted it on with no bolts. regular hose clamps. works great, very much in place. i wish they would make the mirror about 1 inch taller, so i could see top of tailgate to top of rollbar behind me without moving my head, but it does better than any other little rear view mirror and it was like 20 bucks. great quality glass. overall happy with it.

side mirrors are kolpin. set of 2 was like 45 bucks. great quality glass, easy install ( undid window clamp, pushed new clamp through, window gasket seals over it. had them installed in about 25 mins. love them. its awesome seeing behind you. if i could only take one, i would probably just take these. you cant see the passenger side mirror, so that is literally just something for the passenger to do. (the door fabric covers)

about ten feet back, my sight picture between my 2 mirrors is about 30 feet wide. i have no blind spots at all. totally worth the 60 dollars. also kolpins are break aways, and have already saved my mirror from destruction first outing.

next project is led strips on rollcage as dome lights. thinking about either ordering another switch panel, or possibly ordering magnet switches so when the key is ON, when the doors open the dome lights turn on. would jumper them from the headlight wire, so they would only come on when stock headlights were on. i dont really even use them anyway so it would make sense for it to do something better.

Totally bagged the order of 4 18w led pods... I'm so unimpressed I couldn't bring myself to pay the 25 dollars. That's a quarter of the price of a 52 inch, and you get a sixteenth the light. Over those little buggers for sure

Renamed thread after my rigs new name, cthulhu. Half octopus, half man, half dragon. There's not a better way to describe these hondas.

52 inch curved Eyourlife combo in the mail. 100 dollars shipped. Ive owned one for 2 years and beat the snot out of it before moisture, sold it with my last rig . Bought one for someone else. I trust Eyourlife. I think 2 year warranty as well. Doing cummins pushers rollcage style mount. Later will get a 52 ish osram style long spot up on top so I can kill moose for miles and miles at night.

So. Soon to be installed.

Foam headliner: already did it bit the glue melted from the sun and it fell off. Going to use heavier duty foam adhesive instead. Wanted to do velcro so I could remove and clean, but it's just too much money for that much velcro.. if I need to wash I'll remove hood and hit it with a hose. 10 mins tops. I have 24 Sq feet so I should be able to do close to the whole roof. Might be completed tomorrow.

Cb radio and antenna: red whip 3 ft, hd spring, coax cable, and radio in the mail. Mounting antenna on roof. Pa horn as well. Woo

A few switches

New switch plate. I don't like what I did with my dash. The heater failed because the whole side by side is a heater. Tried to convert to cooler air, bUT without drilling big holes in places it's not achievable. So I bought a 8x10 plexiglass and painted it. Will cut to fit, painted side in, mount with 4 screws. Installed tomorrow as paint is drying.

Phone mount. Screwing to the dash.

Exhaust wrap.

Windshield wiper. I ordered a universal one and it worked terribly in stock hole on top of windshield. Going to try drilling hole bottom left so the wiper sheds water in a not retarded way. Idk who thought upper mounted wipers were worth 700 bucks, but they were wrong. Look at the the successful vehicles made today with upper wipers..........

Solinoid. If I'm gonna start hammering out light, jumper power from that key on wire is going to melt it powering 300 watt led bar.

2 led strips for dome lights.

Eventually radios and very very mild sound system will go in, as well as many other things, but all that I have posted so far I'm literally about to install, or have ordered.

Updates by this weekend.

Stop reading this crap and go ride.

Also did the wheelie today. Trick is to use left foot mashing brakes, right foot mashing gas. Have to be violent wit it. Pretty flippin easy though.

Goodies.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJUE8EO/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Phone mount. Screw on with a 3m sticky tape. Very secure. Weak hardwear. Have to get a longer bolt, extra nut, and washer. Plastic snapped when I was tightening. Overall looks good, just don't over tighten it like I did. Poor design of hinge. Shouldn't have made the plastic bear that much weight.

Amazon.com: Curved Led Light Bar Eyourlife Truck Light Bar Off Road Led Light Bar 52 inch Led Light Bar: Automotive
52 inch led curved bar. I'll post pics after mounted. Gonna try the rops mount from CumminsPusher. Very bright. Will post wattage measurements, as well as pics at 100yards. Eventually will get a 50 incher spot up tip for when I need to go gopher hunting in winter ;p

Switches! Got a usb and a rear light switch. Snapped into the switch cover. Not wired yet. Redoing all my wiring when my solinoid gets here. Wasn't concerned with the little bars but this is pretty large to run off the little accesory wire under hood.

Running the dash 2.0. Decided to go green and try and save the planet. Using cardboard.

:p any ideas for upgrades? Does honda sell replacement warning tin plates? Tried plastiglass. It cracked when I was cutting it. Over that.

Update.

New custom rollcage. Slightly altered. Custom windshield mod. Custom passenger a arm. Custom passenger rear fabric upper door frame. Custom roof ventilation. Custom contoured plastics. Custom headlight pivot replacement point. Custom light bar bracket mods. Custom cooler mod. All custom. Not a rig out there with the same mods or work done. Decided to really personalise the rig and make it mine. I stopped shy of putting added custom 9mm ventilation holes through it.

If anyone wants advice on how to go about doing these mods just ask. I'll post pics in the morning.

Okay. Update. Rig in the shop. Here's my invoice.

I'm thinking I'm going with hi lifter a arms, skid plate, itp rims, and a hilifter 2.5 inch lift. Around 1800 for all, shipping half unincluded.

Measured my light bars wattage.

300 watt 52 inch bar measures 9.8 amps.
126 watt 20 inch measures 5.2 amps.

Overall I'm very let down with the curved bar. It's nowhere near as bright at my other one, and at just over a 100 Watts, with a wider spread than straight bar, this thing seems aweful dim. For 100 dollars, I feel taken. My old bar was 3 times brighter. It's not aweful but my 20 inch shoots light further than my 52 inch.
