Not happy with my TRX7. The unit tracks poorly in wood areas. The trail maps & property boundaries are off significantly. I also use a Garmin 700i. That unit tracks perfectly and acquires satellite data quickly.

Example
TRX7 shows me off trail and trespassing
Garmin show me on trail about 1/2 from the property line. (Legal)

I also paid for google map pics and downloaded them into the TRx7 a couple of years ago. The unit does not allow me to use the images anymore. I need to pay the yearly subscription for something I already downloaded and paid for.

Best of luck !

Garmin 700i. Image very accurate. Showing correct property line on the left side of the screen.
Garmin 700i

TRX7 Not accurate. Image is shifted by 1/2 mile. Notice my tracking (Blue dots X) that's a trail that parallels a canal. The vertical dashed line is another property. i.e. Trespassing. Not sure how this happened. I don't trust the TRX7.

Yeah I read they sucked yrs ago when I was researching to buy mine. They were supposedly getting better then but weren't there yet. Bought a Garmin Montana and VV Mapping which worked great but over time became too small for my old eyes. Sold that to @Bastardchild and ended up with a tablet and Lifetime Trail Maps which works pretty well and much easier to see.

I may switch over to a tablet & GPS receiver.
I have the Garmin overlander. Had it for 3 yrs now. Its also a tablet. Use it with my TH on trips cuz it has a setting for your trailer so u only go to certain areas. On trail its been awesome And hasn't failed me yet. If u like your Garmin, try the Overlander.

I was a Garmin GPS guy for 20 years and then my sister bought me an iPad, it has a SIM card for Apple messaging and must have a GPS chip because the mappnig works everywhere, signal or not.

This is a 1500 mile, 3 week track log in southern Utah. I'll never go back to a dedicated GPS. One of the biggest reasons is that a GPS track log fills up and if you want to keep your tracks, you have to load them into your computer - but then they're not in the GPS anymore. :( I have 2 years of tracks in the GAIA GPS app, it records everywhere I've been, including highway miles.
