Hello, I just bought a new 2024 1000-5 trail pioneer and it has less then 700 miles,
this weekend out on a ride and at least once before it loses power when accelerating
between 15 an 25 mph but catches itself and keeps going. At one point the engine
stalled and it would not start back up for like a minute but then it was fine.
I ran it hard after that and it did not show a issue. Its very intermittent. Its all new clear gas
but it has been raining quite a bit. What could this be on a new machine ? Its still under
warranty but its a hassle to haul to a dealer.
It seems to be when it is shifting.

Thanks for any info

Be thorough on these ground checks. Don't just wiggle them. You need to put a wrench on them.

As a new owner, you just wouldn't believe how many problems like yours are due to poor ground. We see it all the time.

Thanks, all checked out and looks good.
What does that mean - ?

did you get tools on the battery connections, clean and check all grounds, etc.?

don’t mean to be rude, but unless you did things like physically put a tool on positive post of battery to check tightness may be moving on to next items to check without a valid check in first items

these machines are voltage sensitive for the shifting -

Also , please post pics as we like sxs porn and list any accessories you have

You will get lotsa help here on what to look for as there are many members on here with tons of real world experience and want to get you to enjoy the ride .

Other things to check are to have battery load tested and find every electrical connector you can to see if it’s seated properly after checking all the basics.

Also - is it a distance thing to get to dealer ?

What Emperor Kermit and Big Dave said. This is an aggravating long-running problem that Honda could fix in seconds.
Give the damn things a tack weld or something. Grounding the neutral is not, is not, rocket science.
I had my 2021 P1K LE in and out of three Honda shops before someone actually disconnected the grounds, then reconnected them. Problem solved.
There are two of them as shown above.
Good luck.

thanks for the info, yup got tools on them.
where do I post the pix, start a new thread or is there a special place on ths website?
The dealer I bought it from is in Hillsboro about 2 hours away, theres a closer one in Albany
or Eugene .... I am going to continue to troubleshoot and if no luck might do the hassle
of loading it up and hauling it in ... but I like to fix my own stuff instead of taking it to the
stealership ... this one is so intermittent it has stumped the chump.
This thing was like 20 grand and then I added
-roof
-heater
-windshield
-light bar
-soft enclosure
-spare tire
-skid plate
and that quickly escalated a few grand
Pretty dissappointed that it is behaving like this, I got this over a polaris
because it seemed polaris were less reliable and in the shop more.

Ck your vent line to the tank and rerout stock they will let water get in the tank sitting outside. That one will make you chase your tail.
thanks yeah I see they ran it up the post behind the passenger and can see where water would get in, going to put in a bottle of
heet and fresh gas and give it a run and see what happens, as well as extend the dang vent

Hi - thanks for the info - this one sounds frustrating - I’m outta talent after the basics - but if ya have time - get the battery tested if ya have an auto parts close by - who knows what the dealers do

Just hit the little button in the post that looks like a bar graph to me and I can insert pics right from your phone on the app - hope that helps.

So I took it out on a slight hill by my house and tested for like 1/2 hour
here is what I found. I did like 5 runs on this hill in each mode.
-Doesnt happen in sport mode only AT mode, could not get to do it in MT mode
-only happens when its going into 5th or 6th, never in low gears
-only happens if I am driving like a old man with just a small constant pressure on throttle
-doesnt happen when I am aggressive in AT mode with more throttle

Maybe I am just driving this dang thing wrong ?

Will post some pix in this thread.

There are actually 3 grounds

2 on the engine and one cluster on the frame.
