They probably mount to the Rear cage section on the 5. Since the 3 doesn't have a rear cage they won't work.
Just one example. You can see where it ubolts on to the support bars for the rear cage. Most of the rear bumpers I've looked at mount up similar way.

Those mounting locations are on my 3 seat. I used them to connect my homemade bumper. The problem I had in making one is the bed dumping but not making the bumper sit too low or hang off the back of the where it would be snagged on obstacles. It looks to me like the 3 seat bed hangs further rearward of the hinge point that the smaller 5 seat bed. My compromise was to make the bed dump with the tailgate closed only. I dont haul gravel and such so this doesn't bother me and I can still easily check my oils.

I don't mean the mounting points on the frame where the cage mounts. Most of the 1000-5 Bumpers I've looked at actually mount to the rear cage itself. The 3 doesn't have a rear cage. That's why most of the bumpers say they only fit the 5 and not the 3.
