Believe it, I bought this Husqvarna in 1979, used the crap out of it for about 15 years, then it sat in the box until a year ago.
Too good to throw away.. wasn't running to good. 18" bar / 3/8" pitch .325

I decided to get it out and give it a face lift; cleaned it up, carb kit, air filter, new chain, cleaned the oiler and now it saws as good as 2 brand new Stihls, I own.
Beast of a saw.
They are air cleaner fussy. Bend the air cleaner inward slightly to a near choke position and it starts 2nd pull and runs perfect.
Saved the original book, receipt and stuff.

Thats from back when they used 3 piston rings, not just one.

That was cutting edge for a home owners saw back in the day. I had to go look up what you meant bending the air filter, that was a unique choke system, it worked! I love running a saw, I've got a 64 cc w/24" bar and a 78cc w/32" bar Professional Dolmar's, I can bury three guys in wood that are splitting and loading in a couple hours. Great fun, these saws are wicked.

I am on my 2nd Husqvarna 455 in less than 2 years. The first one only lasted 2 hours. Of course had I not ran it over with the tractor and then ran it through the brush hog it may still be running. I don’t put the one I have now in the tractor bucket since my memory sucks.

I’m a Husky fan as well. I’ve got a 288xp with a 28 inch bar I’ve had forever and a new 450 rancher with a 20inch bar I’ve had for a month. I’ve been using it on next year’s firewood supply I like it

I opened up the box and I will use it potentially this weekend. It looks clean but definitely has been used. It has Husqvarna certified reconditioned paperwork with it. The bar oil and fuel tank are empty but have had fluids before. The body plastics have some marks. The bar has some marks. The chain they gave me looks new.
