I Wanted to improve my 2018 1000 5, dump bed - lift strut umpf..

The OEM gas strut is rated at 900 Newtons or 202.32 pounds of force to lift/hold up the bed. 2018 Pioneer 1000 5.

This is a Direct Fit Replacement -
No extra strain or loading against OEM mounts.

The one I installed is rated for 1250 newton's or 281.011 pounds of lift force.
1250 Newtons force / 4.448 = 281.011 pound force.
78.911 pound force gain or 39.04% increase over OEM.
593 mm length is 23.34 inches center of mounts, eye to eye fully extended, including stainless ball fittings.
German engineering and made in the USA.

I realize the Pioneer tilt bed is not designed as a full on dump box and the OEM strut was intended to assist lifting and hold the bed up for maintenance.

It is definitely an improvement.
The bed snaps up quickly and positively.
And it doesnt take any different force to lower, for me.
I recommend if you need an update or just a project today, like me..
I'll try to post up a video of it lifting, loaded and unloaded.

Good find. I've replaced my strut once already but even the replacement barely lifts my bed with a gas can in it

Maybe it's me, went to the link site and plugged in numbers. The only thing that returned anything was 1250N (and that's just the strength, not the part number, so it returned a ton of results).

Do you have a part number to look up that gas spring please?

Based on the force of 1250N and the OAL "over all length" that Dirtstiffs-1000 used (593mm or 23.34") this is what I came up with for the configuration of the strut. I checked the OEM parts break down on Partzilla and the strut uses M8 nuts to secure it, so that makes sense with this configuaration.

There is no single, all encompassing part number.
This is a custom configuration.
Your make and model also do not apply.

I configured and ordered what I wanted and thought would work, and it does.

Use the configuration tool on the web site. Add - select the exact same components that I did in the link to your cart and viola!
** 10-23-250(stroke), steel strut- 1250 Newton force.
** 1 - M8 X 30 mm elbow ball fitting- top
** 1 - M8 X 18mm elbow ball fitting - bottom

Got mine and installed it this evening. At 281 lbs (1250N), ain't no way this old man was gonna get it compressed to turn the piston rod so the ball ends were facing the same direction, at least not by hand. I put the cylinder end against the chuck on my metal lathe, and used the tailstock to compress the piston, then rotated the chuck to line things up. I used a ratchet strap to hold up the bed:

Then removed the stock spring. The new one was maybe a quarter inch longer, but was able to get both threaded ends through their holes and get the nuts started. Then tightening the nuts brought everything into alignment. Works really well, though does take a fair amount of downward force to lower and latch the bed when it's empty. Hit the release and it goes up briskly and with authority!! All up, a very good mod. Thank you @Dirtstiffs-1000 .
