Been lurking awhile having just bought a 700 a couple of weeks ago.
Lots of good information here.
So to all those who learned the hard way, the wrong way or the painful way, thank you for saving my back, my new ride and my wallet.

I got a windshield on last week and just finished a winch install yesterday.

We get snow/ice just 2 or 3 times a year and it is coming Wednesday so the battery is charged and it is gassed up for some testing!!!!

I actually installed it without a bracket.
Didn't know one was out there.
Looks a bit odd maybe but it looks like it will work ok.
Any feedback appreiciated if someone sees a problem

That will work but you’re going to want the bracket because it’s bolted to the bumper and the frame of your 700. In a bad bind you could damage your bumper the way it’s mounted now.

I think it this is pretty common from what I saw.
Found a cooler at Wallyworld for $5 to hold the remote in the upper compartment.
(I had to take off the hood to get the remote anyway and I didn't want to keep plugging the cord in- that plastic isn't that thick-afraid it might eventually fatique)
And I have some room left for,,,,, well something will come along for the space that is left.

Wish I had seen the Pioneer take over before it all filled up.
Maybe in October?????
THERE ARE OTHER CAMPSITES NEARBY. I'M SURE SOMETHING'S AVAILABLE?

I am going to pull behind my truck or rv, can anyone tell me the windshield will ride ok if I strap the upper section in the down position or should I just take it off?

BTW, I am pretty thick skinned and always looking for improvements or ideas. If you see something could/should be better, I am all ears.
thanks all and hope to share and learn more here.

Welcome from Buffalo,NY! I’d put a winch mount on it. It looks like you are mounted to the bash plate in the front. That could cause problems to the winch or the skid plate when pulling. I picked up a winch mount from the Hondasxs store. Like @Russ989 said it mounts more securely to the frame and bumper.

id agree the skid is not very beefy as a mounting surface, though it would be nice all the mounts you buy cover the winch so you don't have access ,stupid. I like the cooler bag idea I might steal that one

10-4 on the winch bracket. didn't realize it connected to the tubing so that makes sense. I will install it this week end
and weld a piece of angle iron over the hitch and then wait for the rain to stop!!

I have a pretty long want list but is there anything that is really necessary before we go out on our first trip?
Cooler, you don't want to ride around hungry or thirsty if your gonna ride for a good while.

Make sure to pull your negative battery cable before welding your angle iron over the hitch. I’d say you have everything you need at this point, a roof might be nice to go with that windshield.
