Winch paid for itself

My wife didn't think we needed a winch for the UTV...

(For the record, my son did this.... I got called to recover it )

I was able to tie off low on a fence post 70 feet in back of where he was stick, and spun it 180 degrees to come out more or else the way he went in... ran the winch line under the front suspension and passenger door until it worked its way under the tire.

Now she wants one for the truck. If I'd had another 100 feet of line on the truck, we could have pulled it out backward with the Ford.

Glad you got it out. Out in the open it can be a long reach to anything worth a darn to pull on. It’s why I carry two extra sections of winch rope plus a kinetic rope. Usually that gets me about 180’ maximum of reach or door 90’ of snatch block.

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade tires lol

Nah, he drove into soup that was impassable.... Nothing short of a kayak was getting thru the section he went into.

He'd never been on that trail before or noticed the bypass route that others had created..... Ride and learn.

I may grab a couple of those for our recovery kit.... We used the 15" version to anchor a shed foundation last year, but I never thought about them for on the trail.

I've had to bury a spare tire in an emergency (yay, soft sand) to use as an anchor, but I think I'm gonna snag a couple of these too, great idea.
