I haven’t been able to get the pen out. The pen is bigger than the hole

They should pull out the back of the connector where the wires are after releasing the locking pin. Though it looks like there is plastic holding them all in as well from the back - in the picture from post #9.

It goes out the back side, toward the wire. Remember, someone put it in, it has to come out.

I think you might need to release the back plastic piece as well to get the connector out from the back once the pin is released

Basically like this but your plastic piece comes out not folds back:

So we finally got it out and replaced the wires. Didn’t fix the issue. We still have the yellow check engine light on. Flashes hard twice and 9 quick flashes. When I drive it, it doesn’t change out of gear. Any help would be appreciated

Just a dumb idea, take the battery lose and let it sit a couple minutes and try again? Get some Black Snakes, they're hell on mice!

The yellow is what needs to be lifted.
Once lifted, the pins will pull out.
For pins that you cant pull, you will need to push them.

To get the terminals, out of the connector. You need a extraction tool, go in the opening that (Honda has hi lighted) the tool is cut on a angle, put the sharp end down against the terminal, go to the left or right of the opening, put slight downward pressure on the terminal, while pushing in on the wire. You have to get under the plastic clip in the connector, and lift it up, as you’re lifting it up try to pull the wire out.(it’s all about feel) sometimes you can feel it moving out. The plastic clip is not that far in.
Be careful not too, make the mistake that I did, and cut off the part of the terminal that the plastic clip holds onto.
Yellow wire in pictures compared to the blue wire.
Lucky I bought more terminals. The ones in the picture. And the crimping tool.
