Rim and Tire Choices Need Help!

I feel like the stock tires are way too small. I have decided to put a set of 14"rims. My questions are:
1) What size tire should I get? 26" or 27"?
2) What kind of tire should I get? I ride on my pastures regularly so swamp/mud tires are a no go. I want something that performs well on rocks, dirt, some mud, and through water. I am asking because I know someone out there has knowledge that can be shared. I really do not want to tear up the pastures, we drive out daily to check fence lines and check water. Any ideas?

Looks are secondary to performance, but the 12" rim looks really small so I think a 14" will look better, am I wrong? Also, if anyone has recomendations on sites or places to purchase it would be greatly appreciated. I saw a set of 27" rims/tires on ebay for $829.00 with free shipping.

Thanks for the help!

Im looking too. But I must research what offset I want. I do not want much if any. Some wheels have a small amount and others have a lot.

Im pondering 14" ITP's with dirt commander tires.

Just my opinion, I'd prefer to fit a 14 wheel with a 27 tire on the machine before I'd actually buy a set. You may find the need to add a lift kit due to clearances.
I recently saw a BigRed with 27's. He had substantial damage in the front drivers wheel well due to aggressive contact.

i tried the set of 28inch 589s off my brute force before i sold it they were 28x11s on all 4 and they fit the pioneer with plenty of clearance no rubbing but it sure killed the power big time hondasxs i ride with a guy that has dirt commaders and they run really short in height i think you would be happier with other choices but im not trying to sway you from the commanders most wheel makers irs wheels are 5+2 which would be 1 inch wider at each wheel vs factory wheels douglas has 4+3 offset wheels that would make it 2 inches wider at each wheel

Check mine out in the photo section. Camo p4. I have 14" ss wheels with 26" bighorns. With the minimal extra width of wheels, 1" taller tire, extra weight, and locked rear differential, I am about to put my factory tires back on until power steering is available! The only disappointment over the big red! Pushes real bad without open rear differential and over sized tires with offset wheels!

those bighorns run an inch bigger in size and they have a soft sidewall and flex alot steering is harder with them no doubt but they are excellent tires

Oh yeah, love the look too! I just can't believe they put power steering on a single seater atv and not a 4 seater sxs! Waiting on honda or superatv for the power steering and it will be fine. Still gotta brag about the improvements over the big red!!!

At some point I may just swap rims. I doubt I'll swap tire sizes. Just be something better than the steel rims appearance wise.

This will be my first set of GBC tires. So ya, I will be watching that.
I have always loved Bighorns but I need a stronger tire as sidewall holes have seemed to haunt me.

Unless a lift was incorporated into this mod, I'd have concerns with going to 27's. Glad to see you're going with 26's, ought to look good, but still keep you safe with clearances.

I think that I'm going to go with Sedona Rip Saw RT's. They are a 6 ply Mud and Utility Heavy Duty radial. 26x9R14 fronts and 26x11R14 rears. with SS Alloy wheels. Once I get some more funds. We are leaving this week end for Hatfield and McCoy in WV. This will be are first trip on the trails. We will be the only Honda. Going with 4 other couples that has been there better in their RZR's.

After FedEx found the 3 wheels they lost, I got them mounted today and put on. They look good. MSA claimed a +10mm offset. I think it is a but more then that but not overwhelming wide.
Will be giving them a good run this weekend and reporting back.
