I was a Polaris Ranger owner for sometime and picked up a Pioneer late this summer. I wanted to stay in a utility class but needed an option to seat more than 3 riders, mostly for hunting and camping in Arizona. Found a 2017 LE with 120 miles on it with some upgrades and a 2017 14 foot trailer in CA for 18K, so made the trek nervously thinking it was too good to be true.

Upon inspection, the UTV was very much like new all around with no issues so we paid the gentleman and headed home. I have not taken it out yet while work has had other plans for my time recently but anticipate making some new memories for years to come.

Here is what I did to my Pioneer after getting it home. I reviewed this forum heavily before making the purchase and afterwards to take care of a few things to make it my own. Special thanks to the forum moderators and those members that contribute content with reviews, learnings, how-to summaries and riding experiences.

Welcome to the forum.

What do you think of the Honda Pioneer?

In your experience and in your opinion, how do the Polaris w/rubber band drive and the Honda w/DCT compare?

@Happy trails - Do you have a link to the low profile roof rack you went with? What's the overall added height?

Welcome!

Welcome! Elaborate a bit on this:
Sure. I noticed a pretty good pile of grass and brush jammed on top of the skid plate and wondered why so much. If you look at the front of my plate, it was hanging down like a grater and I think it was shaving and jamming junk into that open area. I dropped the plate a couple inches, cut a slit in a half inch heater hose, slid it over the plate edge and tightened it up again. My plate was missing three bolts and washers in the front so added some. Threads were there in the frame already. Problem solved, I think..

You bet. I used this roof rack. You have to assemble it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002M4GMI6?tag=sxsweb24-20

It is only 3 inches tall and just enough room to clear the garage door. Nice to have the spare tire and tools out of the bed, whether using the back seats or not.

I like this question but don't have enough experience yet to offer a credible response. I will come back to this however, after we get some time on the trails. I can tell already that we leveled up quite a bit from the rig we had previously.

Many of us will enjoy reading your thoughts. Be candid. If it's not what we want to hear we'll take it with a smile.
