Trying to remove the front axle nut. Had to use 1-1/4" socket with air tools to remove it. My unit was way over torqued. 30MM did not fit. Not sure if Honda used another supplier for that nut in 2022.

FYI: Probably about 600ft-lbs i.e my fat A-- plus 24" bar did not work

I bought a increaser at Harbor Freight, it's like a gear reduction device that goes in-between the socket and break over to remove the axel nuts on my 51 8N, worked great, only used it twice, that's why I bought it at Harbor Freight.

I ended up removing both front axle nuts and reinstalling them at the correct torque setting. I need to be able to replace ball joints & perform other minor repairs while on the trail.

Got this new toy. Takes about 2 seconds to remove anything. 1200 ft-lbs . Again the 22 pioneer 1000 uses a 1-1/4" axle nut not 30mm.

Best of luck !

The 2022 Pioneer and Talon have a larger thread diameter then 2021 and older models.

Im not sure if the torque is the same as previous models (101ft-lbs) but my Milwaukee 3/8 stubby never had any issues taking those off.

This is the first I've heard of the larger axle nut. Does this mean the standard Rhino 2.0s, for example, don't fit the 2022?

On the Talon the hub is shared between 2022 and older models.

On the Pioneer it isn't, so i dont know if they changed just the threaded part like the Talon or if they changed the splines as well.

The 2022 Pioneer Axle has a 22mm Thread. the 21 and earlier have a 20mm thread. The hubs are different part numbers and HONDA added a large flat washer between the new 22mm nut and the hub on the 2022 model. So the axles will not interchange directly, probably not at all.

I looked up the torque spec on the axle nuts this morning.
The current published torque spec is 111 ft lbs on the 2022 models.

The proper socket is a 32mm for this. a 1 1/4" may fit,

Its weird that they left the Talon hub the same part number as 2021 and older. But changed the Pioneer hub.

My GM is thinking of upgrading his outer cups to the newer larger threads.

I'm not aware of any 16-21 Pioneer problems that were due to a too-small axle thread and nut...
Never heard of a single complaint of the outer stub axle shearing off. I wonder if they standardized the Talon and the Pioneer outer CV joint?
