In June I purchased a 2024 1000-5 and never really thought about top speed. But recently a conversation with my brother who owns the same, only older (circa 2020 or 2021) model made me start thinking about it. He mentioned he gets a vibration once he gets over 50mph. Forget the vibration, I was more so like whoa, you can go over 45mph? From using Google is looks like top speed is listed around 67mph but I can't find anything definitive for 2024 models. I wasn't sure if maybe they slowed them down but 20mph seems excessive. Anyone have a 2024 that cares to share their experience before I start digging into this more?

I also read that low gear top speed is usually around 45. I'm going to give mine a run later to see how that runs.

*edit* - I searched around the forum and I saw some top speed threads from 2022 but nothing recent so that is why I posted a new thread

My 2016 hits the rev limiter at 66 mph. I use my machine for rural water service maintenance so I'm mostly riding on pavement. I drive 60 - 65 mph for miles at a time with no stability issues. I do run DOT certified tires though.

find a long long downhill, hold the skinny pedal to the floor all the way (don’t back off at all) - see how high the speedo goes before it stops going higher and let us know what number you get 😎

If you change tire height from the OEM size, your speedometer will be altered. You may need to check with GPS.

The tires I normally run are DOT approved and my tires/wheels are balanced when mounted.

He may have an out of round tire or dried mud causing the vibration. Could be something in the driveline.

I have a 2024 but have yet to test the top speed. I saw a guy on YouTube nose 66 on the speedo but who knows how accurate that is.

@jrumer - so you're topping out on engine at 45 mph, or is it that you're shaky and unstable at 45? I'm not clear from your post.

My 2016 Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe topped out 66 mph in H / 30 mph in L
My 2017 Pioneer 100-5 LE topped out 66 mph in H / 30 mph in L
MY 2024 Pioneer 100-5 Deluxe topped out at 66 mph in H / 30 mph in L

these are all speeds before you add speed robbing accessories / Windshields, bigger (heavier tires) etc. Also larger tires throw of the speedo that calculated to be correct with OEM spec 27" cough 25.75" tall tires. So a true 28" tire will be around 3mph off, if it's not heavy may hit 65 mph but GPS reads 68 mph as in my personal machine.

Your buddies vibration - is chitty out of balance tire, could be the tire, slime, mud, bent wheel, multiple things can make it vibrate, all usually have to do with something the owner thought he was improving.

45 mph in low is insane to me. I would be in high range if I'm consistently running in the 20s.
Lol... I think mine does 51 or 53 (tuned) in low and like 64 in high with 31s... 66 if you're lucky down hill. Obviously that's some % off with big tires but it'll pull it

I had the same question. @jrumer will it not go over 45 in High range?

Our previous 2020 700 was speed limited and would cut out at around 43mph.

I’ve attempted to find the cut out limit on our 2023 1000. But have always ran out of road or nerve before hitting the limiter. Seen 60mph a few times.

I'm pretty sure it's electronically limited to 8000 rpm.

Interesting, thank you.

I’m pretty sure our 700 was speed limited. At the cutout point it wasn’t at a crazy rpm and it surged like on a car mph limiter.

Of course we’re talking about 1000’s over here so a different animal. I respect your experience and knowledge with them.

2021 P51k LE here. I hit 64 on a long, straight paved highway with a slight downhill grade.
I've read they can top 70, but don't know.
I don't think the LE will ever do that because of the weight of the skid plates.
I, too, run DOT tires.
