I took my sons 520 Foreman out today and was wondering why it is so much more powerful and faster than my 520 Pioneer(I realize the Pioneer is heavier)
Different gear ratios in the differentials, Foreman @ 2.05:1 vs P520 @ 2.52:1, final shaft ratio coming out of the transmission is also different but it's negligible. The taller (numerically lower) gears in the Foreman allow it to go faster at the same driveshaft input RPM

I would think that the higher gear ratio of the pioneer would result in more power but the Foreman was hot not CanAm hot but still pulled head back. I have had a 2012 Foreman(carb) and 2017 Rubicon and they seamed to have lots of grunt

I have a P500 and a Rancher 420 ES. I don't know about more powerful, but it is much faster than my P5, for all the reasons listed above.

All I was getting to is that if P500/520 is based on the Foreman/Rubicon powerplant why they depowered it so. It is fantastic UTV and just drove across Newfoundland with it(1300km. 800 miles) and was very happy with it.

There is no difference in the engine power, they are exactly the same. The difference is how that power is delivered and what the unit weighs.
