I bought a new battery for my Honda 700-4,when I installed it the negative cable arced.
I got my volt meter and determined that out of the box the positive post was the negative and the negative was the positive.
I was wondering if I could have done any damage to the electrical system.?
I haven't gotten another battery yet.
Thanks

You joined over 5 YEARS ago, and this is your first post? LOL.

Welcome from MI! Better start a thread and get some pics posted or you'll be in violation of Rule #4. POIDH!

If it was just a quick spark or three, I would expect no issues.

Is everything running OK?

really need pics - cmom

pics of machine and pics of battery with posts mis labeled

for clarity - the red/black caps were swapped or the + and - were stamped\molded\stiickered incorrect? we need to know battery man, etc.

so you connected the + directly to ground, was the - already connected to positive?

why do you need a new battery? I have arced many wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. on car passive posts to the frame and never gave it much thought

all u can do is connect it and hit key

good luck

I needed to replace an 8 year old battery. I filled it with the acid it came , let it sit for an hour and installed it.before the first charge. The positive cable was hooked up first . I haven't tried to start it yet.

Possibility.
Might blow a main fuse or something along those lines.
If the new battery is jacked. I'd get another. And be sure to check it before installing just in case. Lol.
