Bought a used 2018 in October of last year. Loved it. Fast forward to May. Was riding home from checking water on the county road. It got a little loud and I started to pull over to check what was up and it just Died and locked up.
Took it up to the dealership where I bought it. Had third party insurance. Weeks go by and I find out nothing was covered. Engine was total destruction. Piston in multiple pieces, rod broken, etc etc. Third party insurance adjuster said it was due to low oil and foreign debris in the engine.
well I’m screwed and need a new engine.
dealer quoted me $7500. No thanks.

kicker is oil level was fine. Intake system and filter was intact, was dealer maintained besides a few oil changes.

need good used engine. I don’t think I want to tackle a rebuild

Insurance companies are kinda slimy.

The 500 shares an engine with the 500 foreman of certain years, so that might add to the pool of good used engines.

Your State will have an Insurance Commission. Gather statements from your dealer and send them a package (including your policy) describing your situation, and ask for their help. You have nothing to lose.

Wow that just sux... sorry to hear man. Pretty uncommon to have one go out, for quoted engine price you could almost buy a used one. Insurance companies are bandits...

That's a $3000 rebuild at most, even with case replacement.

Id have to look through some parts diagrams, but they did change the gearing ratio one year. Can't remember if it was internal or a diff change.
