Drive Axle CVBoot replacement

I've got a split CV Boot on my drive Axle from motor to rear end. Has anyone replaced this and what does it entail. I've thought about using a split style universal boot but probably not the best option. It's just a U joint so not sure how critical this is. Any thoughts?

Depending on how bad it is, some guys have used Shoe Goo as an effective band aid.

I've also heard that RTV works. I have no idea which would be better.

It's a pretty severe split, I really was surprised to find it. It also looks like it wasn't filled with any kind of grease, but more of a protection layer over that u joint, I don't know maybe someone can educate me more. I suppose you need to keep as much dirt out of that joint as you can that's why it's sleeved, thinking one of those Universal screw together boots will mend it.
