Wow... Congratulations.

You are the example I wish many dealers and tech's would strive to be even part of.

I try to represent not just my dealership but Honda as a whole and put my best foot forward.
I don't want people to have issues with these machines, it makes everyone look bad when it does.

That's what every dealership of every brand should be doing! Very few dealerships have anyone who knows anything beyond the sales floor.

Congrats @Hello_Darkness ! I'd like to kkow more about how you got this award. Was there actually some sort of head-to-head competition, or is it just based on your work for the year? Is it about your bosses race machine, or about service work done at the dealership?

I'll lay out the situation here later tonight, on the road back home after a ride in some Talons in Georgia.

To further the explanation of what this was all about.

A few months ago Honda announced the National Technician Competition in which 8 Technicians would compete.

There was a 2 wheel group and a 4 wheel group. To qualify you had to take a 1 hour, 75 question test for each group. Then they would take the top 4 from each side to compete in that group for the each championship and a chance to represent the USA in a global competition in Japan 2027.

I managed to qualify for both sides and decided to pick 4 wheel if the event of a tie on the test. So I was placed in the 4 wheel category.

The competition consisted of a 3 categories:
An Off Vehicle test (3 separate task including measuring, fastening and electrical circuits) Each segment was 15 minutes a piece
Another 1 hour 75 question test on general knowledge
An On Vehicle test, split into 3 separate task as well, including:
Diagnose a no start condition (1hour)
Diagnose a no shift condition (1hour)
Perform a first service (no valve adjustment, 1.5.hours)
These 3 task were on a Pioneer 1000-3

They then took all of those test/task together and tallied scores for the placement.

I won the 4 wheel category, and some cool stuff to go with it. The trophies have been posted already, this was the Grand Prize, plus a $3000 Snap-On credit

I'll tell you how he got the award. He's a Bad Ass MFr because he knows his trade. He and the Dawg are the only ones who mess with my Hondas. Should anyone get the idea to take their issues to Honda of Fairfield, keep in mind they have other Techs to work on your machine.

Very cool! Does that mean you're headed to Japan in '27, or are there more levels to get there?

Thanks for the details.
