Installed yesterday this panel. Not sure it's going to do anything except keep me a little warmer in the winter. I like it, well made and easy to install.

We rode Royal Blue the week after Christmas.
We rode to the Top of the World around 8pm,
with 14 degrees outside. I have the split
windshield, hard top, soft sides & back.
I was more than comfortable with just
a fleece pullover. I did remove my home
made engine heat liner from under the
seat, & I was comfortable for the day &
nights we rode.

Add the soft doors & ride all winter.

John

Edit to add: The only thing that got cold
was my left leg resting against the door.
I would occasionally shift in the seat to
minimize that contact. Some sort of padded
covers would be nice for cold weather riding.

I have the same set with soft doors, soft mid panel and split windshield on P 1000 5. I took pipe insulation/foam and insulated the gaps in front and on the sides between the ROPS and the roof. Also did the ROPS between the doors and window. Used a couple of pool noodles on the gap between the middle roll bar and roof. It's not air tight by any means but cuts down on a lot of cold air. Working on a solution to insulate the gaps around the front doors.
The worst cold air I have now is coming thru the shifter holes. Put on the air dam and it improved it but still a lot of air thru them. Might have to get the shifter cover the guy on here sells.
Stays pretty comfy until you run it up to about 40 mph in 10 deg weather.

Same here. I had some rubber laying around I plan on cutting slits in and install from behind the dash. I like his idea but I dont want the whole alum panel. Just something to block the air flow a bit.

Is it easy to remove for summer riding?

.....And what about the half fabric doors? Are those easily removed for summer driving? I read the instructions and there is a lot of drilling and screwing.

On the P500, it just zippers open and rolls up with snap straps.

I got a call into an upholstery shop in town to make make my soft doors have full zip out wondows. Also want them to make a mesh (like big buster windscreen) to zip in for summer so I don't have to use those hidious nets. I'm okay but wife and 5 year old need a little something. Plus it could zip completely out. Prob add a strap with a button or something on the inside top to keep it from buldging out. I use a bungy cord now

I know this is an old thread, but how are you guys installing the fabric rear panel with the roof clamps?

There are cutouts for the clamps. Velcro goes around the bar. The metal hooks go above the rear seat belt.
