Nice! What did you get him with? I'm relatively new to crossbow since IL legalized two yrs ago. Our woods is a frickin deer nursury and it's not uncommon to see 25-30 deer out in the field. Getting them to walk by my tower into the woods is the trick! With IL's no bait laws, it usually only happens at sunset. That being said for management reasons I focus on putting a doe in the freezer early (unless a nice buck asks for it) and then I go head hunting. It's like ww3 around here when shotgun opens, so the bucks tend to dwindle after the 1st one.
My tower is a work in progress.... Previous owners let it fall apart with nothing more than plywood shutters falling off. I've pecked away at getting windows installed, critters out and sealing things up. Hopefully steel siding next summer.
Anyway...got a nice doe my 1st year, skipped last year because of the weather and crop harvest from hell and just lost a nice buck last week. He was gut shot and we never did find him. Center Point Specialist 370 and 100g 2" Swhackers. Having had some troubles...I'm not ready to condemn the setup yet since I still need to rule myself out of the equation. LOL! Farming doesn't allow for alot of practice time.
