That looks like spruce or pine. Do you have any access to hard woods. I have a wood boiler, burn 10 to 15 full cords of hard wood a year. I have become a slave to my boiler unfortunately.
If you don’t go through too many chains on your saw cutting it lol.Come on down I have all the hedge and honey locust you can burn.

Like watching the sparks fly in low lightYou need the old style buzz saw. Makes short work out of the job. More beer time.

Huh, didn’t know there existed such a thing.Carbide chains work great on hard wood.
Got a Porter Cable now started out with a Harbor Freight, gave it away. The thing most sharpeners are missing is a dog grinder wheel and the dogs are hard, harder than the teeth?Best thing I bought was a harbor freight chain sharpener. I hand sharpened for alot of years but damn it is handy.
You need to get off the dozer and plant your feet on the ground, where the real work is! They have bar and chain combos that cut concrete! HA!Huh, didn’t know there existed such a thing.
Never heard the called dogs. Dogs are on the saw to dig into the wood. Ive also heard them called rakers. I hand file them with a guide and flat file. I worked for a tree service, and wildland fire in a previous life so Ive got alot of experience running saws.Got a Porter Cable now started out with a Harbor Freight, gave it away. The dogs on my chains will will curl the teeth on a good file, just use a Dremel tool now and use a gauge. Ever noticed the teeth are longer on the left side cutting teeth than the right on a new chain, I have mic's new chains, just to prove my self not crazy. So now I measure both sides lengths, pick the shortest for each side and set my grinder. I need to compare left versus right and make adjustments on a new chain, for sharping. What saw you running, cc and bar length?Never heard the called dogs. Dogs are on the saw to dig into the wood. Ive also heard them called rakers. I hand file them with a guide and flat file. Nice info. I use about four different Stihl MS250’s 18” bars (I think) and a couple of MS271 Farm Boss’s with 20” bars. They all have the manufacturers chains on them.https://m.stihlusa.com/WebContent/C.../STIHL-Saw-Chain-Selection-Identification.pdf
Go there to learn all about the different types of Stihl chain. Chisel chain cuts waay better but if you burry your bar in the dirt you will dull it quick. Also you will need a larger cc saw to run chisel and skip chain. For most jobs I find a 20” bar is ideal. Run a Stihl 290 and 261 running 26RS81 Larger jobs I have a 36” bar on a 461 running 36RSFL114 I think. That is a square cutter and beyond my sharpening skills so once it’s done it’s done.
