The misses and I did a quick run up to the rolls area and over to Hwy87. About 45 miles total. Leisurely pace. The Rotopax worked great, though didn't need the extra fuel. Found some running water with tiny fish. In the Desert, who woulda thunk it. The water spills were interesting. Barely made it thru in the Honda, marks on the roof and deep holes in the sand tells me someone wasn't as lucky.

I'm always super jealous of the pictures of places people get to ride; especially when you can ride right out your driveway to get to them. I have one little trail out my back door, otherwise I have to trailer my 520 to do anything interesting. And we aren't talking 30-60 minutes away, more like the closest place to ride for me is about 4 hours from my house.

Yes I trailer mine also. The closest trail is around 5 miles away. The Rolls and Queen valley are both 30 miles away from the house.

Heard about this place for years but never been. Looks a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.

My fear about anything relatively close to Phoenix is the number of people there. How crowded was it? Is this the area with the "homeless encampments" I hear about?

We usually hit the trail in the early AM so we miss a lot of the party crowd. The Rolls has a lot of cool trails (13/401 ETC) and you can spend an entire day out there exploring. We encountered maybe 6 vehicles on the road portion and a lone motorcycle on the trail. That was all. 😀 One camper setup was sighted. Pretty much had the area to ourselves. When we got back to the staging area there was a lot more activity but we where loading up and heading out.
