We routinely put a small trailer in and out of a small space. The front receiver makes that easy. I won't put much weight on it, but it works for us.

Exactly! Plus, I notched the bumper a bit as well. If I had a do over, I'd find a way to mount the receiver further out, (read away from the radiator), to facilitate the hitch pin removal.

Cure <> "Shallow Pin Situation" <> described on <>"Front Hitch"
Take the HITCH off & Drill NEW HOLE FORWARD of Factory Hole.
Will STILL <> "Not Be" the Weakest Point <> of P500/P520 front winch mount.

FYI:
LOCATE <>CENTER & DRILL EACH SIDE One at a time <> start small work your way up to pin size. ( DONOT Drill Stright through Both sides ) average drill press is Not that accurate.

That is one solution. For once a year changes, I can live with it this way. Haven't kicked the ball with my knee yet, but could change my mind if I make a habit of skinning my shins on the insert. ;)

If I change it, it would be easier to redrill holes in the winch mount. Don't have a drill press. Thanks for the suggestions Pappyo. :)

BTW, it was MUCH easier to remove the front bumper to get the winch mount bolted on and make the notch in the shield below the receiver. Easier to paint while it was off as well. Drilled holes in the receiver with a common hand drill. Got the bolts at Tractor Supply. HTH

shorter pin could work. cut pin on the bend, heat the cut end red hot and mushroom with hammer a little. or
save pin and use a thick bolt just long enough to stick out the other end and drill a small hole through end sticking out for the lock pin.
