That's a diesel that doesn't countBut 10 speed trannys may help. I kept the cruise at 72-74 and avg 11.8 new trailer pulled unbelievable.

I had the same truck as you. An 07 and that's what I would get with and open trailer on the interstate. Of course it wasn't 8000lb enclosed wind sail. I'd get 6 with my mega cab 5.7 hemi with a 16' enclosed.Maybe 11

Idk. My diesels aren’t exactly new and it’s been well below 0 and I’ve never had any issues with any of my diesels. Ever. Currently have 5 in the driveway. Don’t plug in or anything. I hear of all these diesel problems but I just can’t relate.YES, CP they are, HA! Going to the mulberry ride Thursday bout noon, saw two semi's on the side of the road down and a couple limping a long at 24 degrees, gelled fuel filters I'm sure! Been there done that! The newer pick up trucks must have a better system than the new semi's.
I hear you! All I have ever had is gelling at speed and ran all the Power Service additive you were supposed to use to below -20 and still gelled filters, we must have bad diesel down here.Idk. I assume smitty is buying leftover summer fuel.Idk. My diesels aren’t exactly new and it’s been well below 0 and I’ve never had any issues with any of my diesels. Ever. Currently have 5 in the driveway. Don’t plug in or anything. I hear of all these diesel problems but I just can’t relate.
They mix in kerosene, more the further north you go. Changing fuel filter is very importantI hear you! All I have ever had is gelling at speed and ran all the Power Service additive you were supposed to use to below -20 and still gelled filters, we must have bad diesel down here.
Our backhoes, trac hoes have always started and operated but the diesel trucks have always failed at speed??????I assume smitty is buying leftover summer fuel.
I ran a water separator as well, I wouldn't have a stinking diesel in my fleet, unless absolutely necessary, too much maintenance, for the gain in pulling power. They mix in kerosene, more the further north you go. Changing fuel filter is very important
I know right ,Hard to make trips with mpg like that !
I don’t have a dog in this fight, I gave up on 3/4 tons when I sold my super duty. If I were going to buy another HD it would be diesel. My ram 1500 has a 305hp 6 cylinder with an 8 speed transmission and it gets better mileage towing than any of my other trucks in the past. I can set the cruise at 70 and get 22-23mpg towing my pioneer it drops to 14.5-15mpg.What does everyone think about the resurgence of big block gas motors? Ford released a 7.3 gas and Chevrolet has a new 6.6...
And let me add, 14.5-15mpg is the best any of my others got empty lol.I don’t have a dog in this fight, I gave up on 3/4 tons when I sold my super duty. My 93 Cummins gets almost 24 empty at 80, all of 20 loaded with Pioneer. Camper van with Pioneer loaded is 18 if driving mellow and school bus is 12 loaded. As far as maintenance there is literally only fuel/air/oil filer, it’s the lowest maintenance engine by far. I couldn’t go back to gas, especially considering the loss of power.I ran a water separator as well, I wouldn't have a stinking diesel in my fleet, unless absolutely necessary, too much maintenance, for the gain in pulling power.
Ive toyed with the idea of trading mine for an eco-diesel but mine is almost paid for with only 52,000 miles. My 93 Cummins gets almost 24 empty at 80, all of 20 loaded with Pioneer. Damn that’s low miles for being close to paid off! That’s cool. On one hand it’s worth pretty good with the miles but on other hand you have one about to be paid off with low miles. That’s why I’ve been thinking about getting an eco-diesel, my truck is worth more now than it’s ever going to be. It easy to keep the miles down on mine because I have a company truck that I drive home.Damn that’s low miles for being close to paid off! That’s cool.
