The migrating geese fly in a V pattern and how do they form this? Geese fly this way as a safety measure because of most geese have poor eye sight. Scientist have discovered that the majority of geese are very left or right eye dominate with very few non dominate birds. This is why they form a V in flight behind the one non dominate geese. Each leg of the V is populated with the appropriate eye dominate geese. That is why you see most flights with unequal geese in each leg. They honk in flight announcing there eye dominance so as the flight gains geese they join the leg with there eye dominance.
